University researchers who store research or pharmaceutical materials in a temperature-controlled unit must take action to prevent losses due to equipment malfunctions, power outages, etc. (see Loss Prevention Protocols). A Preventive Maintenance Agreement (PMA) is required along with an active inventory, continuous monitoring system, and identifiable asset or ID tag for all units to be covered by insurance.
