CATALYST (Computational ADME-Tox and Physiology Analysis for Safer Therapeutics) program intends to create human physiology-based computer models to accurately predict safety and efficacy profiles for Investigational New Drug (IND) candidates.
Why it matters: Drug development is costly and inefficient, with over 90% of drug candidates never reaching the commercial market. CATALYST intends to lessen these failures by creating digital models that better predict drug safety and efficacy before clinical trials start. Key details:
  • The goal of CATALYST is to reduce reliance on preclinical animal studies and speed up drug development while lowering costs, especially for rare diseases and orphan drugs.
  • CATALYST seeks proposals across three technical areas, including data discovery and deep learning, living systems tools, and in silico models, to improve preclinical and clinical drug safety testing.
How to apply: Visit the CATALYST program page for details on how to register for the program’s upcoming hybrid Proposers’ Day in Cincinnati on October 29, 2024, and how to submit a proposal. You can also view the draft CATALYST innovative Solutions Opening on SAM.gov.
