Federal Government Shutdown: Guidance for University of Utah Research Administration


On October 1, 2025, current year funding to the federal government expired. AI and National Security Lightning Talk Event


Advancing AI technology, its applications, and promoting data privacy and security are priorities for both our nation and our state. Together, experts in AI, data, and cyber security will be able to catalyze responsible innovation through public-private partnerships and accessible infrastructure. The Office of the Vice President for Research and the One-U Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Initiative are excited to host a 90-minute lightning talk event to hear from active researchers in this space, identify related areas of strength, and discuss emerging research opportunity in this area. The goal of this event is to help mobilize potential research teams on these topics.

Save-the-Dates: Future of Food Working Group Horizon Scan


The Future of Food Working Group will be conducting a horizon scan to determine the most current research questions that link to food, ultra-processed foods, and food sovereignty. A new funding opportunity has been published that focuses on the development of novel or improved infertility technologies.  The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to support and facilitate multidisciplinary research approaches for the development or improvement of technologies, including drugs, devices, products, or clinical practices designed to improve fertility outcomes in patients dealing with infertility, particularly in the context of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). ARPA-H External Funding Opportunity: THRIVE - Treating Hereditary Rare Diseases with In Vivo Precision Genetic Medicines


THRIVE aims to make personalized and affordable cures available to all rare disease patients. The program intends to develop pioneering integrated platform technologies to accelerate precision genetic medicines (PGMs) and provide single-intervention precision treatments to slow, reverse, or prevent chronic diseases at the genetic level. THRIVE is designed to optimize affordability, scalability, and sustainability of lifesaving PGMs for patients through existing regional treatment centers and virtual clinics.
