The University of Utah recently hosted UIDP: University-Industry Demonstration Partnerships. Reflecting on the event, the Vice President for Research, Dr. Erin Rothwell shared, “We had the privilege of hosting the UIDP Spring 2025 Conference, where research universities, government agencies, and industry leaders from across the country gathered here in Salt Lake City.”
UIDP 2025 was more than a conference; it was a powerful demonstration of what happens when higher education, industry, and community come together to solve real-world problems. The U provided a fitting canvas for these conversations, not only because of our rich research enterprise, but also due to Utah’s unique ecosystem – a place where collaboration drives economic growth and sparks breakthrough innovations.
Through keynotes, interactive workshops, networking sessions, and exclusive site visits, participants exchanged knowledge, networked and fostered partnerships, while challenging each other to find new ways to translate research into impactful solutions. The conference addressed topics ranging from workforce development to technology transfer – all with an eye toward strengthening the future of collaboration between academia, government agencies, and industry.
We celebrate the progress made and look forward to the ongoing partnerships that have and will continue to emerge from this gathering. The University of Utah remains a proud part of this important dialogue and was honored to be the host. Hear more from VPR Rothwell in our highlights video as she discusses the power of UIDP.
