Nominations are now open for the 2026 EHS Partnership Award, honoring faculty and staff who make safety an essential part of research, teaching, and innovation.
Great research starts with a safe environment.
The University of Utah’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Partnership Award recognizes faculty and staff who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to building a culture of safety across campus. Whether in a research laboratory, teaching space, clinic, or shared facility, these individuals help ensure that safety is not simply a requirement—it’s a core value that enables discovery.
The award celebrates those who work collaboratively with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) to strengthen safe practices, mentor colleagues and students, and create environments where research and innovation can thrive.
Up to five recipients will receive:
· A framed recognition certificate
· A $500 safety grant to support safety improvements in their laboratory, department, or workspace
· Recognition during the University of Utah STEM Safety Day on October 2, 2026
Celebrating a culture of safety
Past recipients represent colleges, departments, and research units from across the university, reflecting the shared responsibility of creating safe research environments. Previous honorees include faculty and staff from the Colleges of Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Medicine, as well as University of Utah Health and campus support functions.
Their leadership demonstrates that safety is a collaborative effort—one that protects people, strengthens research, and supports the next generation of scientists and scholars.
Nominate a colleague—or yourself
Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate a colleague whose leadership has made a meaningful difference or to self-nominate if they have championed safety within their own research or work environment.
