University of Utah faculty members Tallie Casucci, Steven Lobell, Paula Woodward, and Anne Kennedy have all authored or co-authored books that were published in 2025. Each author has worked tirelessly to compile their research and concentrate it into text, and the U celebrates every researcher’s effort to share their studies with a broader community.

Edited by University of Utah Undergraduates Emma Day and Elise LeMonnier, along with Marriott Library Associate Librarian Tallie Casucci, the book serves as an introduction to evidence based practice for health professionals and students.

“[This book] started from the University of Utah’s Evidence Based Practice Council education subcommittee’s work to create online learning content,” Casucci shared, “We decided to transition the articles into an open education (OER) book.”

Accessible at no cost to the public, the book serves as an introduction to evidence-based practice for health professionals and students., What is Evidence Based Practice? walks readers through various steps to ask a clinical question, acquire available evidence through a literature review, appraise or evaluate the evidence, and then apply and reassess.

Understanding Near Crises and Escalation in World Politics: A Mixed Methods Approach, co-written by U of U political science professor Steven Lobell investigates how and why some political near-crises escalate, while others do not. The book uses primary sources and newly created data to explore an expanded set of questions about specific cases and general patterns of conflict behavior in world politics.
