University of Utah faculty members Laura Shane-McWhorter, Daniel Witt, and George Rodgers have all authored or co-authored books focusing on clinical research. Each author has worked tirelessly to compile their work and concentrate it into text, and the U celebrates every researcher’s effort to share their studies with a broader community.

Complimentary Health and Diabetes: A Focus on Dietary Supplements, written by U of U professor at the College of Pharmacy Laura Shane-McWhorter, provides information clinicians and providers need to guide patients and provide them with evidence-based advice on supplement use.

“Often, [patients] have a great interest in using supplements because they believe they are ‘natural’ and thus may not have adverse effects or interaction with medications,” Dr. Shane-McWhorter explained. “I hope that the book is a useful resource for clinicians that may seek information to help them care for their patients with diabetes.”

This text helps providers stay informed and prepared to help patients make wise choices and improve their diabetes self-management.

Co-authored by pharmacotherapy professor Daniel Witt at the University of Utah, The Essential Guide to Pharmacy Residency Research provides pharmacy students, residents, and practitioners with an accessible and practical overview of how to conduct research, empowering them with the self-assurance necessary to initiate and navigate a research project.

“The book was intended to be user-friendly and provide real-world examples and ‘pro tips’ for residents and their mentors,” Professor Witt shared, “I loved being able to work with [Kauffman] as a colleague after having been her mentor during her fellowship. It was gratifying to see her apply the skills she had developed to this project.”
