Three University of Utah Startups have been recognized for their dedication to innovation in the Utah Business Innovation Awards. We at the U celebrate their commitment to translation research and entrepreneurship.
1st Place- TELLUS Networked Sensor Solutions, Inc.
TELLUS Networked Sensor Solutions, Inc. was awarded 1st place in the Cleantech category for the Utah Business Innovation Awards. The company provides a smarter approach to air quality monitoring, delivering real-time environmental insights and ensuring organizations and communities have the actionable insights they need to make informed decisions. TELLUS was started in 2017 with a mission of making air quality clear and actionable, and their success in targeting a complex local issue is marked by their recipience this award.

Emerging Company- Trace Air Quality
Trace Air Quality has been recognized as an Emerging Company in the Cleantech category for the Utah Business Innovation Awards.
The company, started as a National Science Foundation project in the U of U’s Chemical Engineering Department, delivers advanced forecasting and air quality solutions, allowing their community partners to adjust their lifestyles around the air quality forecasts. Their drive and commitment to air quality research, combined with a successful seed round earlier this year well qualifies them for their placement in the Utah Business Innovation Awards.

Emerging Company- Biologic Input Output Systems
Biologic Input Output Systems (BIOS) has received the Emerging Company title in the Healthcare and Life Sciences category. The company, a result of decades of study at the University of Utah, is on a mission to help individuals with limb loss regain natural movement and sensation by creating intuitive connections between the brain and advanced robotics and digital technology. Known for their work with the LUKE prosthetic arm and their universal neural interface, BIOS is a well-deserved recipient of this award.

Three Other U of U Startups Recognized in MoutainWest Capital Network Utah 100 List
Techcyte, a 2013 University of Utah startup, has been ranked among Utah’s 100 fastest growing companies. The company is on a mission to improve the work of labs and transform healthcare worldwide, and offers the only unified and anatomic clinical pathology AI program. Their continued discoveries and innovations place them among Utah’s fastest growing companies.
Recursion Pharmaceuticals has also been named as Utah’s 100 fastest growing companies. Founded in 2013, the company’s focus was on using data and AI drug discovery to bring better medicines to patients at a faster and more accurate rate. Recursion’s unique drug discovery and development platform has yielded an advanced pipeline of potential treatments for conditions with high unmet needs. The company’s groundbreaking and innovative work to accelerate drug discovery marks incredible entrepreneurship and a well-deserved ranking on the Utah 100 list.
In addition to recognition in the Utah Business Innovation Awards, TELLUS Networked Sensor Solutions, Inc. was also named as one of Utah’s Emerging Elite Companies in the 100 list.
