The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has just released RFPs for the following three USGS 104 competitive grant programs:

• Water Resources Research Act Program National Competitive Grants (USGS 104g) https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/360311(Maximum award $310,000, funding available $1,850,000). Collaboration with USGS staff is strongly encouraged.
• Water Resources Research Act Program Aquatic Invasive Species Competitive Grants https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/360309(Maximum award $346,875, funding available $1,387,500)
• Water Resources Research Act Program: Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) Substances Competitive Grants https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/360310(Maximum award $309,000, funding available $2,775,000)

Any investigator at an institution of higher learning in the United States is eligible to apply for an award through a Water Research Institute or Center. The Utah Center for Water Resources Research (UCWRR) at the Utah Water Research Laboratory (UWRL) is the Utah Institute eligible for these awards.

The sponsor’s deadline for all three is September 30, 2025, but final proposal materials must be submitted to the Utah Center for Water Resources Research by September 15, 2025, to allow time for institutional approvals and processing time. If you intend to submit a proposal, please contact Carri Richards (carri.richards@usu.edu) as soon as possible to coordinate and ensure the proposal is prepared and submitted by the deadline. Note that all awards are contingent on availability of federal funds.
