Mastering the Research Elevator Pitch

You’ve spent years on your research, but can you explain its value in the time it takes to ride an elevator? 

Whether you’re talking to a donor, a CEO, a federal program officer, a potential collaborator, or your neighbor, your ability to "translate" your brilliance determines your impact. Creating a foundational ‘pitch’ that you can quickly tailor to build support and interest across different audiences is key to generating funding and impact.

Join Future Ready on March 6th from 12:30pm-1:30pm (MST) on Zoom (login details below) for a hands-on webinar designed to help researchers strip away the jargon and build a flexible pitch that wins support. The FutureReady program prepares research leaders to effectively navigate the unique challenges of major, interdisciplinary center initiatives. FutureReady is a program of the VPR, powered by LIFT, in partnership with Thorn Run Partners and AtKisson Training Group.

• Identify the "hook" in your work that makes people lean in.
• Think about the world from your stakeholders' point of view - what do funders, industry partners, collaborators, grad students, and others care about?
• Practice "dialing" the technical level of your pitch up or down on the fly.
