  • Promotes University animal welfare compliance efforts and programs within the college/school
 
Biosafety/recombinant DNA:
  • Promotes University biosafety efforts and programs within the college/school
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor, and UU regulations regarding the use of rDNA
 
Conflict of interest:
  • Monitors conflicts of interest within the college/school
  • Promotes University conflict of interest efforts and programs
 
Data and safety monitoring:
  • Promotes University compliance efforts and programs regarding human subjects protection within college/school, as relevant
 
Education and training:
  • Promotes education and training for all personnel involved in research in college/school
 
Environmental health and safety:
  • Ensures non-departmental areas under their management are in compliance with University health and safety policies, practices, and programs
 
Financial management of research:
  • Approves changes in stewardship of primary data
  • Approves transfer of equipment if PI leaves University
  • Approves sources of cost sharing/matching funds
  • Provides guidance in sponsored project matters that cannot be resolved at the department level
  • Promotes University compliance programs and efforts regarding research grants management
 
Human gene transfer:
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding the safety and welfare of human subjects
 
Human subjects:
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding the safety and welfare of human subjects
 
Human tissue samples:
  • Promotes compliance with the University policy on human tissue samples
 
Patents and inventions:
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding technology transfer
 
Radiation safety:
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding radiation safety
 
Sponsored projects administration:
  • In the circumstance where a Principal Investigator does not have a department Chair or center Director, the Dean (or designee) of the PI's college/school assumes the Chair/Director's responsibilities for sponsored projects administration
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding administration of sponsored projects
