|
- Assures that projects are in compliance with federal,
state, sponsor and University of Utah animal welfare policies,
guidelines and procedures
- Provides for peer-review of all protocols not supported
by grants prior to review by IACUC, by at least two individuals,
one of whom must be the department chair; signs approved
protocol
- Promotes University animal welfare compliance efforts
and programs

| Biosafety/recombinant
DNA: |
- Assures that projects are in compliance with federal,
state, sponsor and University of Utah biosafety and recombinant
DNA policies, guidelines and procedures
- Promotes University biosafety compliance efforts and programs

| Conflict of interest: |
- Determines which employees must file Annual Financial
Disclosure (AFD) form
- Distributes AFD forms annually to employees as necessary
- Ensures that AFD forms are completed
- Forwards forms to University of Utah Conflict of Interest
officer
- Participates with PI in development of Management, Monitoring
and Implementation Plan
- Responsible for providing process and oversight for implementation
of Management, Monitoring and Implementation Plan, as needed
- Files Annual Monitoring Plan report to Conflict of Interest
Committee
- Promotes University conflict of interest efforts and programs

| Data and safety monitoring:
|
- Assures that projects are in compliance with
federal, state, sponsor and University of Utah human subjects
protection policies, guidelines and procedure

| Education and training: |
- Promotes education and training in University
compliance efforts and programs for all personnel involved
in research in college/school
|
| |
| Environmental health
and safety: |
- Ensures areas under their management are in compliance
with University health and safety policies, practices and
programs
- Supports institutional policies related to the use of
appropriate environmental health and safety practices and
facilities in research activities

| Financial management
of research: |
- Assures that PI and departmental/center financial administrative
officer follow sponsor and University of Utah policy and
guidelines for proposal preparation, review, approval and
submission
- Reviews and approves proposed research activities for
compatibility with academic mission
- Reviews and approves planned and actual allocation of
faculty time and effort
- Maintains local oversight for the allowability and reasonableness
of all project expenditures
- Oversees all re-budgeting activities on sponsored projects
- Provides oversight on all aspects of program income
- Is aware of participation of co-PIs' participation, and
if necessary, has negotiated a Facilities and Administrative
split if the co-PIs are in different colleges
- Negotiates transfer of equipment if PI leaves University
- Negotiates changes in stewardship of primary data
- Provides oversight on the implementation of University
and federal financial policies and regulations at the department/center
level
- Ensures financial compliance with applicable regulations
and University of Utah policies and procedures for sponsored
projects within the department/center

|
- Assures that projects are in compliance with federal,
state, sponsor and University of Utah human subjects protection
policies, guidelines and procedures
- Promotes University human gene transfer compliance efforts
and programs in the school/college

| Human subjects:
|
- Assures that projects are in compliance with federal,
state, sponsor and University of Utah human subjects protection
policies, guidelines and procedures
- Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and University
of Utah regulations concerning the safety and welfare of
human subjects

| Human tissue samples:
|
- Assures that projects are in compliance with University
of Utah policy on human tissue samples
|
| |
| Patents and inventions:
|
- Encourages inventors to disclose inventions to the Technology
Transfer Office
|
| |
| Radiation safety:
|
- Assures that projects are in compliance with federal,
state, sponsor and University of Utah radiation safety policies,
guidelines and procedures
|

| Sponsored projects
administration: |
- Affirms that Principal Investigator is eligible to be
an investigator at the University of Utah
- Affirms that PI has the knowledge, time and ability to
work towards the completion of the scope of work of a project
- Affirms that Department will take responsibility for conduct
of an agreement if the PI is not capable, able or willing
to complete the terms of the agreement, including over-expenditures
or non-payment which are the result of fault by the PI
- Affirms that the PI has the resources available, including
equipment, space and support, to complete the scope of work
or that support is requested in the proposal or that there
is a pre-negotiated agreement with all appropriate University
parties that the space, equipment and/or support will be
provided if the award is made
- Is aware of any cost sharing/matching commitments, of
the source of the cost share/matching and assures necessary
commitments will be in place prior to the award
- Affirms that co-PIs have the necessary resources as above
- Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU
regulations regarding administration of sponsored projects
